ABSTRACT

There is a growing and significant interest in pedagogy in legal education. Increasing external surveillance of Higher Education from bodies such as Funding Councils in the United Kingdom, the need to adapt to changes that are occurring in the legal professions, global competitive pressures, declining resources and increase in the consumer power of students have all led law teachers to develop theory from and around their practice (see Chapter 9). Information and communications technology (ICT) is integral to many aspects of the changes in legal education: it provides the pressures promoting changes as well as pathways, tools and techniques for implementing them. Castells (1996) best describes the impact of technology on social networks.
