ABSTRACT

Introduction The importance of high-quality teaching in our medical, dental and veterinary vocations is increasing. In this chapter, I shall discuss the stimuli for quality in teaching, issues around the governance of teaching, and the experiences of using a checklist as a practical way to promote quality for our needs and the needs of the various institutions. In the context of this chapter, you might be a teacher employed by a university or institute with separate responsibilities for research and/or clinical practice, or a teacher from a general or specialist practice with sessions for teaching via an honorary contract.
