ABSTRACT

This case takes place at a large, multi-campus Australian university. ‘Adam’, the student, and I, the teacher, had known each other since enrolment at the beginning of the year when I had provided course advice to Adam. Adam was a school leaver, first-year student undertaking an arts/ education double degree. As a teacher of 20 years’ experience in secondary and tertiary education, I was interested in issues of transition to university, and committed to assisting students in adjusting to the different teaching and learning styles they experience at university.
