ABSTRACT

One Monday morning an urgent voice called me from my desk to listen to a mumbled message left on our help line answer machine. A distressed and sobbing female seemed to be in desperate need of help. It was so difficult to decipher the call that it took three of us to re-listen and retrieve the caller’s name, Geri, and number. While it is not uncommon to receive this type of call, it is always disturbing. By chance I wrote the number down and so it was presumed that I would return the call.
