ABSTRACT

The use of computers and communication technologies in learning has a history going back at least 30 years. In that time it has been called by many names, including computer mediated communication (CMC), computer conferencing, telematics, on-line learning, and more recently, internet based learning. With the advent of the World Wide Web and organization based intranets a new and interesting environment for technology based learning has been created that offers many new possibilities without some of the problems that have been present in older computer-based learning applications.

This chapter is an overview of some of the many issues you should consider when developing on-line learning materials.
