ABSTRACT
Note from BS.1192:1984 ‘A drawing is a symbolic representation of a real or imagined object. Aspects or parts of a drawing may themselves be symbolically represented. Symbols used for this purpose are termed graphical symbols. The use of symbols on a drawing can enable the maximum information to be contained within the drawing in a clear and legible manner with the minimum of effort’. Some examples are given in BS.1192:1984.
