ABSTRACT

I intend to describe essentially a sui generis opposite-or rather a supplementation-of the term ‘playground’. I am concerned less with depicting the policy pursued by the superpowers in relation to Poland-or their mutual relations within the Polish contextand more with deliberating on the manner in which Polish leaders perceived those policies, and the impact upon their decisions of such a perception of the activity-or statements by the representatives-of the two superpowers and their allies.
