In 1932-33, Klara Zetkin, suffering from the heart problems that would soon lead to her death, required doses of camphor to raise her blood pressure. On one occasion, as the medical personnel prepared to inject this stimulant into her left buttock, Zetkin told them to find another site: ‘That one’, she explained, ‘belongs to Dr Zamkov.’1
