ABSTRACT
As Souza argues, epistemology is ‘the theory that treats of the origin, nature, species and validity of knowledge’.2 Considering the importance that should be given to the teacher’s history knowledge, we will position this concern as the foundation of our work in the pursuit of a clearer understanding of the importance of epistemology of history in the changing of practice for history teachers.
