ABSTRACT

Chadong is spoken mainly in the township of Chadong in Lingui County, southwest of the city of Guilin, with some spill-overs in several villages in the township of Liangjiang in the south and in the township of Longjiang in Yongfu County in the west. Chadong has approximately 20,000 speakers. Until recently, little has been known about this language, except a very brief sketch in the local Gazetteer of Lingui County (Liang, 1996).
