ABSTRACT

However, children’s labour participation has been even more neglected in studies of ethnic businesses. Although there has been a growing body of literature on ‘the second generation’ of ethnic migrant children in the UK, most of this literature has not focused upon the work roles of children in ethnic businesses. Rather, this literature has emphasized ethnic migrant children’s cultural identities, educational performance, and inter-generational relationships (e.g., Watson, 1977; Saifullah-Khan, 1979; Ghodsian and Essen, 1980; Parker, 1995).
