ABSTRACT
Ghurids Minor Islamic dynasty in mediaeval Islam which flourished between c. 390/1000-612/1215 and overthrew the last of the Ghaznavids (q.v.). They ruled in Afghanistan and areas formerly held by the Ghaznavid dynasty. The Ghūrids in turn were overthrown by the Khwārazm-Shāhs.
