ABSTRACT
Once upon a time there was a poor laborer whose wife had died andleft him with a daughter to raise. Since he did not like being alone, hedecided to re-marry and found a second wife. Well, you know how hard it is for stepmothers to tolerate stepdaughters. This one was no exception, and she enjoyed making the poor girl’s life miserable. Among other things, every morning she would give the girl the washing to do and not allow her to eat anything until she gave it back all finished.
