ABSTRACT

Joe Wang is a second-generation Asian American. His father came from China and his mother was from Japan. They met and married while they were in the United States pursuing graduate training. In addition to a younger sister in the United States, Joe still has some relatives in Japan and China. After receiving his MBA degree, Joe worked in a marketing division of a financial company that had branches in the United States and in some East Asian countries. His trilingual ability (English, Mandarin, and Japanese) had led him to several promotions in the company, and his position required him to travel quite frequently between the United States and East Asia. In the past year, he had worked in Shanghai, and he was quite happy with his job because he wanted to explore his cultural roots by visiting the country.
