ABSTRACT

Writing a chapter of this kind is a daunting task. This chapter will be autobiographical with an eye toward what it means in the arena of men and masculinity. I, of course, am the world’s expert of my life, but like most people, I have lived my life primarily unexamined in an academic sense. Certainly, I have had some experiences that are common to many Asian American men of my generation, but I also have some unique experiences and some unique perspectives. Although all Asian American boys have grown up to become Asian American men, not all think about the psychological significance of what this means to be an Asian American man. I hope my observations are of clinical and academic use.
