ABSTRACT
It is important to acknowledge at the outset of this chapter that there is a deliberate intention to be provocative and maybe even controversial at times in order to challenge conventional thinking within sport development. This is necessary if we are to initiate a process of change that gets sport development professionals (SDPs) to think and act in alternative ways to impact upon historical problems within society, through sport.
