ABSTRACT

Kenya is bordered by the Indian Ocean, Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan, Uganda and Tanzania. According to the World Factbook (2010), it is the forty-eighth largest country in the world in terms of its land mass (approximately 580,000 square kilometres) and the thirty-fourth most populous country, with a population of approximately 39 million people. According to the United Nations Human Development Index, Kenya ranks one hundred and forty-seventh (EconomyWatch, 2010).
