ABSTRACT
This paper does not look at language as a tool of drafting legal texts or for that matter language in a literary sense. It is, rather, inward looking and will focus on the construction of international conventions, specifically the CISG. It is hoped that it will stimulate discussion and contributes towards the recognition of a “global language” necessary for the success of any international uniform law.
