ABSTRACT

In this chapter we revisit the questions underpinning the study to summarise our main findings and, where appropriate, reflect on barriers we encountered in obtaining the information we sought. As a result of analysing material obtained from the institutional documents and two student surveys, interviews with disabled students and with teaching and other staff and observation of teaching sessions, there emerged a number of themes in addition to the research questions we started out with. These themes have been discussed in earlier chapters and together with the material from our research questions inform our conclusions about enhancing disabled students’ learning and suggestions for further research, later in this chapter. Finally, we look at implications for further action and research aimed at enhancing disabled students’ experience of teaching, learning and assessment in higher education.
