ABSTRACT
The Double Indemnity is one huge crane. I’ve built mine with a bottom boom that measures 20′ long. You can also make it so it breaks down into an easily hauled package as seen in the photo above. And just so you know, any longer than 20′ (6 meters), and my modified surveyor's tripod wouldn't hold it, so don't get any bright ideas for a 30′ crane unless you have a mount that can hold that kind of weight! Before we go any further, don't even think of putting this crane on a flimsy tripod! It's best if you modify the Surveyor's tripod from Chapter 21, The Third Man Tripod, before you start this project, and make at least four sandbags to boot!
