Can you tell me a little bit about your own history in the gay labor movement and about the Cay and Lesbian Labor Activists Network (CALLAN)?
When was that?
I started there in 1979. I became a steward and did union work. I was out at work, but we didn't organize around lesbian and gay issues. We already had antidiscrimination language in our contract. Partner benefits weren't an issue; nobody was looking for them back then.
