ABSTRACT

Video editing applications come with a variety of titlers. Premiere Pro (for Windows) ships with the best titling tool ever to be included with the program. Final

Cut Pro (for the Mac) boasts a full-featured Live Type tool that includes some very

nice presets. Boris, Pinnacle, and a handful of other companies develop third-party

plug-ins that greatly improve the more bland variety of titlers, such as Avid’s limited

text tool which is included in many versions of their application. While all of the

various developers of video titlers have their own strengths, the vast majority of

the titling you’re likely to create will be better served by Photoshop than any other

application. This chapter will illustrate just how fast and powerful Photoshop’s Text

Tool is, and how to get the most out of it.
