ABSTRACT

Any video editing application can create a freeze-frame or a hold frame. When you add Photoshop to your workflow, your freeze-frames can be taken to a higher

plane of creativity and impact. Freeze-frames are also known as Hold Frames. Their

effect on video content gives the appearance of the video being paused. This is an

effective tool for extending a clip for purposes of lengthening a dissolve transition, or

to call attention during a voice over or the insertion of text. Recently, there has been

a trendy new variation seen commonly on MTV, VH-1, FOX and most effectively on

Bravo’s ‘Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’, that is an offspring of freeze-frames and

pseudo 3D. Pseudo 3D is discussed in detail in Chapter 25.
