ABSTRACT

BILKIS J the Queen of Sheba, is the national heroine of Yemen, the land of her birth. There is, of course, a certain amount of exaggeration in the Arab history which deals with Bilkis and her time, for it was the Golden Age of Southern Arabia. It seems that Sabbaea owed its prosperity mainly to the Ophir tribes, who had founded their mesha in the early post-diluvian days, and had developed the trading port until it became the world-famed City of Ophir, with two subsidiary ports, Bander Reisut and Ras Merbat.
