There is an amusing incident which gives a light turn to these scenes. Suleiman was anxious to learn the truth regarding this Queen, who was reputed to be a devil and to have goat's feet, so he Hooded his courtyard before she arrived. She rode to the Court and was anxious to ride right up to the throne, but it was pointed out to her that the throne lay in the courtyard that was adjacent to the Temple Court, and was therefore considered holy ground. She therefore dismounted, and, finding the Court Hooded, she naturally picked up her skirts to cross the water, thereby dispelling the rumour about her goat's feet.
