ABSTRACT

E-mail is a wonderful invention. It allows people to communicate instantaneously over large distances, send pictures and greetings, and verify appointments. The well-known downsides of e-mail include that e-mail lasts forever (you cannot throw it out), that emotions are exceedingly difficult to judge, nuance is entirely lost, and that people using e-mail tend to be impulsive and not scrutinize what they have written closely enough before sending. Another frequent problem is that the “Reply to All” button can spray an e-mail to many people to whom you do not wish to send a particular e-mail.
