ABSTRACT

N.B.---Table I will enable the reader to obtain a synoptic view of Latin Christian Literature and to appraise (1) the contribution of each province in the Roman West; and (2) side by side, the contribution of contemporary Greek Christian Literature, and Latin and Greek Profane Literature. In the tables following, the classification of the works varies with the authors. In eases where the chronological order is sufficiently established and has special value (as for instance as regards St Augustine) this order has been adhered to. ln other cases, I have preferred to classify by the li1atter, or even alphabetically.
