ABSTRACT
This assessment guide has aimed to provide consolidated information and advice on how to identify multiple benefits associated with PAs, including how to estimate their socio-economic value. It has also shown how estimating the value(s) of PAs (monetary, quantitative and qualitative) can create a basis for both communicating their importance and developing concrete measures to support the management of sites. Finally, the guide has also synthesised a wealth of concrete examples around the world that demonstrate how the assessment of PA-related benefits and their socio-economic value can be carried out in practice.
