Sally Clark was convicted of killing two of her babies. The prosecution expert claimed that the chance she was innocent was one in 73 million, got by squaring the chance of one baby dying without known physical cause. But the chance of her guilt was well below the threshold for proof beyond reasonable doubt. How can this be so?
