ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on community-building efforts though trilateral dialogue in Northeast Asia. I find intriguing patterns of reciprocal effects between economics and security. Regionalism in East Asia is a popular topic these days and the literature is rapidly expanding, 1 but few have so far focused on regionalism in the sub-region of Northeast Asia. 2 In particular, to the best of my knowledge, trilateral dialogue among China, Japan, and Korea has not been analyzed extensively elsewhere. Therefore, this will be the first attempt to describe and analyze the political economy of trilateral summits/dialogue in Northeast Asia.
