ABSTRACT

The use of social networks such as Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, wikis and blogs bring a new and engaging social aspect to teacher preparation as these tools continue to evolve and challenge each new generation of classroom teachers. Social networking is a favorite pastime of many of our present teachers, teacher education students, and the students that will be or are presently are in classrooms. The use of these social networks crosses all boundaries of teaching and learning and appears even within virtual 3-D worlds such as Second Life (Wheeler & Whitton, 2007).
