ABSTRACT

This is the global age, as is often said. But what does globalization mean for cities? In this section, we include readings that address both structural political economic processes tied to globalization and the consequences of those processes for everyday urban life. The structural approach has been the mainstay of research on globalization. Recently, scholars have opened up the field of globalization studies to include factors other than economic and structural ones. The emphasis on cultural aspects of globalization addresses a different set of questions, such as, what does globalization mean to everyday life in the city?
