ABSTRACT
One of the main purposes of this chapter is to draw lessons from past negotiations on climate change talks regarding the role of leadership in this area for the future. The chapter focuses on one complete cycle of the negotiation, starting with pre-negotiations in the 1980s and the post-negotiation that began after the entry into force of the 1997 Kyoto Protocol in 2005.
