ABSTRACT

The socialist revolution in Russia is only the beginning and only a phase of the international socialist revolution. Sooner or later, it must change into a revolutionary struggle, a desperate handto-hand fight between two irreconcilable enemies, two forces opposed to one another-the international proletariat and international imperialism. The civil war which rages today within the confines of the old Russian Empire will have to spread and deepen both its internal content and its external manifestations. With the spread of the revolution, peoples and entire countries will be compelled, whether they like it or not, to take part in this conflict-which will constitute the last world-wide carnage in human history. This is inevitable because the old world is decrepit; it is groaning and tottering; the whole earth looks forward to and demands a renewal and a total transformation. The deci-
