ABSTRACT
Addiction is a complex neurological and psychological pathology, a difficult and deadly disease to treat. Forty-five million Americans are addicted to nicotine—22% of men and 17% of women. Twenty-two million Americans suffer from addiction to alcohol and illicit drugs (Okie, 2010). This number has been relatively stable with a slight positive trend.
