ABSTRACT

In this section, each chapter explored different motivational elements or processes that impact teachers during the course of their careers. Nolen, Ward, and Horn considered preservice teachers’ motivational filters and their effects on interest in learning and adopting new pedagogical practices. Husman, Duggan, and Fishman explored teachers’ time horizons and the impact of “time bubbles” on motivations to engage in professional learning. Durr, Chang, and Carson considered the intersections of motivation, stress, and burnout and whether these led to less effective teaching or attrition from the profession.
