ABSTRACT
In some ways this book was difficult to write, and in some ways it was easy. The actual writing only took a few weeks, but I had been brooding over the whole harrowing experience for some three years. Then, when I was back in the Ituri Forest with a people who lived in a near paradise, I saw the same thing happening to them that had happened to the Ik; and out came the book.
