Project control is perhaps the key element in project management. Some would say that risk management is the cornerstone of project management, but, although I deal with risk management in its own chapter, I see it as one part of control. Whatever your opinion, I think we can all agree it is vital. I have divided ‘control’ into the various areas shown in Figure 13.
