ABSTRACT
Most journalists at some stage wonder if they would be better off as freelances than working in their regular jobs. The appeal is obvious, and freedom is the most important part of it: freedom to choose your own hours, freedom to work on stories that interest you, freedom to work with people you respect. No more rigid office hours. It sounds good but it isn’t quite like that.
