ABSTRACT
The terms used in an agreement must be clear to all parties involved. Lack of clarity in terms used can result in a confusing agreement that is difficult to implement and monitor over time. Key terms might include, for example: ‘community’, ‘researcher’, ‘data’, ‘traditional ecological knowledge’, ‘culturally appropriate amounts’, ‘collections’, ‘best practice’, ‘access’ and ‘benefit-sharing’.
