ABSTRACT

When the first signs came, I thought I had simply picked up a bug of some kind. It was odd, like a vibration or tremor deep inside my body. I thought that antibiotics would take care of it. When the symptoms persisted and got stronger, I went to the next stage of the analysis. Was this caused by a tumor, an ulcer, or some kind of tropical parasite? Over the next year and a half I went through every conceivable test, and they all came out negative. I was convinced that I, of all people, did not have a psychological problem. The doctor at the UN told me otherwise; I was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
