ABSTRACT
In November 1988, the first Palestinian intifada began; soon after, the UN agency responsible for Palestinian refugees responded by establishing two teams of refugee affairs officers (RAOs), one each for the West Bank and Gaza. In their second year of operation I became a member of the team covering the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
