ABSTRACT

In Chapters 4 to 9, leaders and managers offered their understanding, insights and lessons learned from 25 connectivity conservation case studies. In this chapter, we add to these lessons by presenting information generated by connectivity managers attending the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas (Mountains Biome) workshop held in Papallacta, Ecuador in November 2006 (Figure 10.1). We then offer, as a second part to this chapter, an overview of the main themes to emerge from all of the cases and lessons, thereby establishing an empirical basis for a new connectivity conservation management framework presented in Chapter 11.
