ABSTRACT

In many high-density cities in subtropical and tropical regions, such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo and so on, the hot summer can cause thermal stress, which is unhealthy to inhabitants. Buildings add to the problem as they increase the thermal capacity and, thus, add to the urban heat island intensity, reduce trans-evaporation, and increase roughness, slowing down incoming wind.
