ABSTRACT
Wildlife regulations are common in many countries. The aim of such regulations is to limit the depletion of wildlife by directly controlling access (harvest limits) or by indirect means (for instance, suppressing trade activity in threatened wildlife). These regulations are typically backed by legislation. The legislation may stem from domestic concerns about species loss such as the US Endangered Species Act or the requirements of international treaties such as CITES.
