ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the provision of water and sanitation services in the newly incorporated Council of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality (CTMM – formerly known as Pretoria, hereafter referred to as Tshwane). The provision of water and sanitation services in Tshwane provides insight into the tensions and contradictions that have resulted from the commercialization of these services, and in particular the growing trend towards ‘corporatization’.
