ABSTRACT
Management planning is the most basic and formidable requirement for achieving certification of an NTFP. Most existing guidance for forest management revolves around timber objectives. There are few examples of good management plans for commercially harvested NTFPs, despite their long history of harvesting, although increased efforts to develop effective and affordable management regimes are underway (Peters, 1996). NTFPs are not normally incorporated within long-term timber management plans.
