ABSTRACT
Like much of the world, the US regularly experiences flooding. Because of its geographic and climatic diversity, a result of its large size traversing several climatic zones, all types of flooding occur. As well as riverine floods (both flash and slow onset), the US has floods caused by snowmelt, coastal storm surges (usually coincident with tropical storms and hurricanes), urban storm drain overflow and tsunamis.
