ABSTRACT
The precautionary principle can play a key role in preventing the entry of invasive (alien) plants and animals into a country. All over the world, alien invaders have a serious impact on biodiversity, resource conservation, agriculture and human health. This chapter examines Australia's approach to controlling the entry of potentially invasive plants through the weed risk assessment process, among the most precautionary control systems for invasive species in the world.
