ABSTRACT
This article describes the theory and application of high dynamic range imaging (HDRI). HDRI is a recent technology allowing the capture of images with a much extended dynamic range whose values represent real-world luminance rather than just arbitrary pixel values. This article lays out the steps necessary to create HDR images, and highlights recent developments in the technology and its applications for building research.
